Wasn’t sure whether I should post something about Hell Girl (Jigoku Shoujo) or not, but in the end I went for this one.
Categories: Angst, Horror, Seinen, Tragedy, Violence
Plot Summary:
Somewhere in the vast sea of the Internet, there’s a website that can only be accessed at the stroke of midnight. Known as the Jigoku Tsushin, rumor has it that if you post a grudge there, the Jigoku Shoujo will appear and drag whoever torments you into the inferno. Very little is known about the girl – all we know for sure is that she lives with her equally enigmatic grandmother, that three magical straw dolls accompany and serve her, and that whenever a posting on the Jigoku Tsushin moves her, she becomes the Jigoku Shoujo.

My opinion: Jigoku Shoujo is.. not for everyone. I found it quite unique, and I really enjoyed it (season 1 in particular, season 2 is ok, season 3 is “for fans”). It is slow at start, thus it may discourage some people after a few episodes, but if you manage to go past the first few episodes, I doubt you’ll drop it afterwards
. The atmosphere is, of course, dark. Character development is great (especially the main character, of course) : As you learn more about Enma Ai’s (the main character) past little by little, you get more and more addicted to the story.
A good watch if you’re not reluctant to this type of anime.
