Dead Fantasy? What’s that?

This is not really Anime-related, but since the idea comes from several Japanese games, I guess it doesn’t hurt to talk a bit about it.
I know this is fairly old and famous, but I thought I’d share it for the few people who never heard about it.

Basically, Dead Fantasy is a series of short CG action movies made by Monty Oum featuring characters from Final Fantasy, Dead or Alive, Kingdom Hearts and Ninja Gaiden, and who fight each other.
This is fan-made, but don’t get the wrong idea : The quality of animation if definitely worth the watch. In fact, this was so well made that the guy was hired by Rooster Teeth.

This contains violent scenes as well as blood, so be advised. I have a personal preference for the 4th episode, but they’re all awesome.

I recommend that you watch them in HD to enjoy the animation at its fullest.

Ever wondered how Japanese figures were made?

Whether you like Japanese figures or not, the company “Good Smile” may ring a bell to you. They’re known for the quality of their figures, and several of them are in the Top 10 figures sales in Japan.

But, have you ever asked yourself how some of these extremely detailed figures were made? I’m not particularly interested in collecting figures (mostly because it’s expensive, sob :( ), but I’ve been wondering that as well.
In the following video, we take a look directly inside Good Smile’s building, thus seeing all the tools they use to create figures, from the prototype to the finished product. And wow, they sure got some top-edged stuff in there.

I found it quite interesting and informative, and I hope you do, too.

NB : When the guy doesn’t speak English, it is subtitled, so no worries.

Japanese Artists – Arima

A mix of styles with this one.

Arima (ありま)

Arima’s drawings often mix fantasy characters with vivid colors. Even though this style is not particulary unique in itself, you can still recognize that it’s from her if you pay attention (I can’t explain it very well with words, but her drawings have a somehow unique characteristic that you won’t mistake for another).
You’ve probably seen some of her artworks on Pixiv Fantasia (joint Pixiv project).

As a general rule, I’ll never post more than 5 pictures of an artist when I feature him/her.
