Japanese Games – Vanguard Princess 1.08 Released

Vanguard Princess 1.08 has been released a few days ago. Aside from bug & balance fixes, the major addition is an extra animation for each character when they are about to perform their special move.
The video below will show you what I mean.

Japanese Games – Floati’n Assult

I didn’t talk about any shooter game yet, so let’s fix this with Floati’n Assult.
“Z” to shoot, “X” to raise a shield, “C” to deploy a drone and your mouse to move : that’s all you need to know ;)
With its dark-blue colors, nice soundtrack/sounds as well as gameplay, Floati’n Assult by Uminin can keep you entertained for a while, even though game sessions are generally short (because you can’t stay alive for long huh).
Game weighs only ~2.2MB, which is quite acceptable for the quality of the content.
I uploaded the game on the server, so you can try it here directly. I advise you to click on the “Darken Web Page” link just above the game : having the whole page in dark is much better to appreciate and play the game in good conditions.
My personal high score is 26650 points and I somehow managed to reach the 3rd level (without cheating, I precise). Can you pew pew Uncle Zana? (°w°)

Japanese Games – Vanguard Princess

You were not expecting this, right? Well, neither do I :/
It’s been ages since the last “Japanese Flash Games” post, and I thought I’d be more interesting to post about Japanese games in general so I renamed the category (as said in today’s Picture of the day post).

Small quote from wikipedia :

Vanguard Princess is a Japanese freeware dōjin 2D fighting game for Windows, developed by a single programmer and illustrator called Tomoaki Sugeno, nicknamed Suge9 and a supposedly ex-Capcom employee. The game was released on June 26, 2009 and was created using Fighter Maker 2nd. The latest version of the game is 1.07c, released on June 20, 2010.

For a free game, it’s pretty amazing. Graphics are gorgeous, and you don’t need a rock’n lol PC to make it run. The only drawback in my opinion is that characters do not have a lot of different moves. That may change in later versions, though.
Note that You may need Microsoft AppLocale to make it run on your machine.
You also need to rename/fix the file path so that it does not contain any asian characters (ex: C:\Vanguard Princess\vanpri107c\vp). You also need to rename the .exe and .kgt files for the same reason as well. You can give them any name you want, as long as they both have the exact same name (ex: vp.exe, vp.kgt).

Found the game quite fun and relaxing, and I hope some of you will think the same ;)

Japanese Games – Hoshi Saga

Today, I’m featuring a game that doesn’t require you to play against time, unlike the previous two.

Hoshi Saga is all about reflexion.
The goal is simple : You have several stages, and in each stage you need to find a star to clear the level.
Of course, it is easy at start, but it becomes harder as you unlock new levels.
There are 36 levels total, and there seem to be a sequel (which I didn’t try) on the same website. A good way to kill time.
Can you clear all the levels?

Japanese Games – Neko no "Curry" Yasan

Sooo, what do we have today? Neko no “Curry” Yasan!

In this game, you own a small restaurant, and you have to take care of your customers. Just click on the ingredients you need so that your character grabs and places them on the counter. Afterwards you have to drag and drop the said ingredient/plate to the appropriate customer.
When a customer finishes eating, he leaves the restaurant, and you then have to click on the plates he left on the table to clean the place for the next customer (otherwise you’re screwed once all 5 tables have plates remaining).
So, where’s the tricky part in all this? Well, once you’ve got used to classic mode, try expert mode! You’ll see true hell after a few customers :p

A good tip to keep in mind : the girl behind the counter always places a new ingredient on the first available spot starting from the left of the counter! It means that when you’re playing to break your record, you have to take the customers who just arrived in consideration and maybe delay their order a little to pile the ingredients on the counter, thus reducing to time the girl takes to go back and forth to search for ingredients. Sometimes the ingredients she needs are all the way to the right, 2 or 3 times in a row! Going back and forth takes a lot of time, and your customer may already be pissed and about to leave the place.

It seems some people got over 50000 points in expert, while I’m at a mere 27050 points :|
I guess it goes too fast for me. How much can you do?

Japanese Games – Nanaca Crash

Starting off a new category with a famous japanese flash game known as Nanaca Crash.

Game is simple: Just crash your bike into the poor guy, then try to keep him flying in the air as long as possible, using special moves along the way with your mouse.
Not only is this game insanely addictive, but the characters’ special moves are something you always look forward to.

My personal record : 6029.46m – Can you beat it? (Well I bet you can, it’s not that high :p)

Next time I’ll present you another game that I’m sure none of you know about.

See you around on Neregate!

Edit: better with the link >_<
