Here is the chart for the upcoming Spring 2012 anime.
This chart will be updated every few weeks until it is considered ‘complete”.

Version 4 Release notes (04.03.2012) :
I think I’ve never done an update that big.
- 12 new TV series.
- 2 new OVA/OAD/etc.
- And a lot of updates regarding airing dates, and other stuff. I took some time to change several anime’s pictures as well.

The Spring chart now has 53 TV series total, which is by far the biggest season I’ve ever done.
baka.bz‘s list of URLs has been updated accordingly. The “NEW” tags have been kept for the summer series as well, because the two charts were released close (in time) to each other.

After a long wait, the v2 is out. A big update with this one :
- 13 new TV series.
- 12 new OVA/OAD/etc.
- And a few updates/fixes.
The next release will probably focus on airing dates and OVA/OAD/etc, as I think we’ve got about 85%+ of the TV series already.

Version 1 Release notes (12.23.2011) :
There it is. It had much more stuff than I expected, but at least it feels like a proper chart : 19 series, 5 misc and 9 movies.
As you can see, the “origin” fields for each anime are not on the chart (manga, VN, original work, etc.). No worries, I haven’t forgotten about it : It’ll be included in the little “something” I’m planning to do with the Spring chart. I’ll actively work on it this weekend.
Personally looking forward to Accel World (like many of you I believe), Zombie, Fate, and many others.
I think Spring is going to be exciting

I am pretty terrified of that thing.
As a kid I had not really anything to do so I watched TV at noon after school – there was no freaking good thing running… so I had to stop and watch that amazing show, because it was the MOST interesting channel at that time.. god, that nearly forced myself to suicide.
Maybe it’s because of that, but I do get kinda sick when riding a train..
So this show is only for those with nerves of steel – I would catagorize it as “horror; drama; violence”. Ah well and don’t watch it if you aren’t 18+, cause the exposed locomotive parts will defile your view on mankind.
i was hopping where would be more interesting anime, but now then i look at v2, there is just few good anime. for me spring seson would be boring;) waiting for sumer season:)
On the first glance I think it’s better than this winter season, which has no anime I am really itching to see every week. Although watching quite a few from the winter linup they are kinda all mediocre.
Was different last Fall season winth Ben-to, Guilty Crown, Fate/Zero and Steins Gate, which was still running.
Good that some anime lasted longer than a season to pep up the Winter lineup (e.g. Chihayafuru, Guilty Crown, Last Exile).
Well, nevermind. Just my ranting thoughts.
Wow are you serious. This winter line up is one of the best I have seen in a while. I literally have 17 ongoing series that I am watching. You must not be a big anime fan if you think that the winter line up is no good. This spring lineup is what looks boring as hell. Other than the second season of fate/zero and 2nd season of kore wa zombie

I am watching 14 series from this season alone and some ongoing from the previous – but none seem to really satisfy me, they are all more or less mediocre.

Yes. I believe it was Thora who re-released Nadia in BD quality.

You’re right for Thomas, though Arashi is still listed as such. I’ll probably remove Thomas in the next version though.
How do you define anime, then? Arashi sure as fuck doesn’t fit anything that anyone in the fandom enjoys. MAL and other shitty sites take the Nippon Banzai approach where *anything* that’s animated in Japan by Japanese people counts as anime.
I consider anime a pretty fucking distinct style of animation that has nothing to do with arbitrary national borders or the color of the animators’ skin. And I sure as fuck wouldn’t consider claymation (lol MAL http://myanimelist.net/anime/7510/Shisha_no_Sho ) or that cheap, shitty CG in Arashi to be anything close to it.
To me, the definition of Anime (or “Animated Cartoon”), has changed significantly over the last few years. Back in the past, you’d hardly find any computer-animated scenes in anime.
However, technos have rapidly evolved. Now, it’s not that rare to find computer-animated scenes in anime (Macross, Aquarion Evol, etc). In fact, I’d even say it is becoming more and more common.
Arashi is still an anime : The only difference is that, unlike most other anime, it is fully computer-animated (or at least I think it is, but I won’t know until I see it with my own eyes).
I understand that people do not consider “this” to be an anime. I myself wouldn’t want all anime to be fully computer-animated : it’d loose all the meaning “anime” carried over all these years. However, that’s just another direction anime is taking, be it good or bad.
Still, I don’t think we need to worry too much about it. “Classic” animation techniques have also evolved, and in a good direction imo
Chara and background designs definitely aren’t the same as before.
Just so you know, Kikansha Thomas is nothing new. It’s just the Japanese Dub of Season 14 (Season 16 is airing on UK TV right now). The only reason that it was re-announced on Moonphase/other Japanese sites is because it’s returning from a 2-year break. Earlier seasons aired on Fuji TV and TV Tokyo from 1990 till 2010 (break in 2011).
Found some old trailers of Thomas, indeed. Well it’s a good thing, I didn’t want to keep that in the chart anyway :/
