Archive for December, 2011
And here are the results for the first GtA of this week:
Asawon, auro, John Smith, Lawrence Leong, Ren, Raitsui and xEdward found the right anime,
which was Mirai Nikki.
We’re now down to the last GtA of the year! Results will be reset at the beginning of next year.
As some of you know already, I was planning on adding new statistics to the GtA results, like :
- Your overall accuracy (how many times you got it right against the number of times you participated).
- Your participation rate (how many times you participated, against the total number of GtA of the year).
If you’ve got other ideas, I’m all ears
There probably won’t be a new GtA during the first week of the new year, as I’ll need to update my admin interface for the new GtA features (playing with SQL requests ‘n stuff, you know).
Good luck with this last GtA for the year 2011!
One of the oldest artists on Pixiv.
Katahira Masashi (まるかた)
Katahira is an artist who, as far as i know, exclusively focuses on girl characters (coming from a Japanese, no real surprise here). They’ll be depicted mostly either in a swimsuit or a bunny outfit, making it easy to recognize the artist.
He has mainly two ways of coloring his characters : one with a very light “painting” style that brings a light “relief” impression to the girls depicted (see pictures 1 to 3), and a “flat” coloring way that looks more classic to the eye (see pictures 4 to 5).
In any way, his method of doing shadows on the skin is quite unique if you’re experienced enough on dealing with the different styles Pixiv has to offer.
The latter technique makes it harder to spot the artist, but the former leaves no doubt.
Katahira is usually good with both body proportion and poses, which brings quite simple but sexy pictures.
He has quite a portfolio on Pixiv. So if you like the style, visiting his Pixiv profile is a must : You’ll have plenty of material to look at.

Pixiv ID :

As a general rule, I’ll never post more than 5 pictures of an artist when I feature him/her.
And here are the late GtA results from last week :
Asawon, azeru, clog5, flat and Kurai found this difficult anime, which was Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka ! Recognizing the Seiyuu was probably your only chance to find this one, as this anime was quickly forgotten by the masses (btw, this one was a sample from the OVA).
Sorry for not posting fresh content these days. Been focusing a bit too much on other things for the blog. JA post tomorrow
And we’re finally reaching the last week of the year!
Beat of the Week changed to “Magnolia”. New GtA is on the sidebar as well.
Results from the previous GtA will be announced this Tuesday.
Many things coming this week (or so I hope).
Workload at the office is slowing (read : tiring) me down considerably. Hopefully, I found something for the spring chart “thingy” that will save me several days of conception (luckyyyy). Should be able to push the update this week :3
Have a nice week
And it’s that time of the year again!
Had no time to do something fancy like Halloween, but I still changed the banner and my avatar, as well as the Homepage.
Just like Halloween, I’ve compiled two packs featuring xmas artworks.
The normal one is located here and the extra 18+ one is located here. If you want everything, you have to download both. Both packs are NSFW.
The changes will last until the beginning of next year.
Merry Chirstmas, folks

Here is the chart for the upcoming Spring 2012 anime.
This chart will be updated every few weeks until it is considered ‘complete”.
- Date format used in the chart is MM/DD/YYYY.
- Use the URLs inside the chart (baka.bz/aXX) to quickly go to an anime’s official website. You can also go to baka.bz, of course.
Version 4 Release notes (04.03.2012) :
I think I’ve never done an update that big.
- 12 new TV series.
- 2 new OVA/OAD/etc.
- And a lot of updates regarding airing dates, and other stuff. I took some time to change several anime’s pictures as well.
Please have a look at the changelog for all the details : I recommend it!
The Spring chart now has 53 TV series total, which is by far the biggest season I’ve ever done.
baka.bz‘s list of URLs has been updated accordingly. The “NEW” tags have been kept for the summer series as well, because the two charts were released close (in time) to each other.
I hope you’ll enjoy this version 4, and that you’re ready to enjoy this Spring season, which has already started!
Feel free to point out mistakes and/or omissions (though I think I’m pretty clean this time). Your critics are welcome, of course.
Full changelog at the bottom of this post.
Version 3.1 Release notes (02.21.2012) :
Fixed a few things. No additions though. Thanks to the people who pointed out some of the problems
Both were anon so I won’t write down any names this time.
Details at the bottom of this post.
Version 3 Release notes (02.19.2012) :
An unexpected, badass update with this one :
- 11 new TV series.
- 6 new OVA/OAD/etc.
- 1 new Movie.
- And a lot of updates.
Please read the changelog for all the info.
The Spring season now has 43 TV series listed, wow. Probably one of the biggest seasons we’ve ever had.
baka.bz‘s list of URLs has been updated accordingly.
Please enjoy this v3, and sorry for the delay
Feel free to point out mistakes and/or omissions (was getting quite tired near the end so..). Your critics are welcome, of course.
Full changelog at the bottom of this post, as usual.
Version 2 Release notes (01.21.2012) :
After a long wait, the v2 is out. A big update with this one :
- 13 new TV series.
- 12 new OVA/OAD/etc.
- And a few updates/fixes.
The next release will probably focus on airing dates and OVA/OAD/etc, as I think we’ve got about 85%+ of the TV series already.
baka.bz‘s list of URLs has been updated accordingly.
Enjoy this version 2 of the Spring chart, and don’t hesitate to point out mistakes and/or omissions.
Full changelog at the bottom of this post, as usual.
Version 1 Release notes (12.23.2011) :
There it is. It had much more stuff than I expected, but at least it feels like a proper chart : 19 series, 5 misc and 9 movies.
As you can see, the “origin” fields for each anime are not on the chart (manga, VN, original work, etc.). No worries, I haven’t forgotten about it : It’ll be included in the little “something” I’m planning to do with the Spring chart. I’ll actively work on it this weekend.
Personally looking forward to Accel World (like many of you I believe), Zombie, Fate, and many others.
I think Spring is going to be exciting ![]()
More shows are to come with the next releases, of course.
Please enjoy this first version of the Spring 2012 anime chart, and feel free to give your thoughts/critics/remarks, etc.
Last but not least, don’t hesitate to point out mistakes, if any.
I’m almost done with the Spring chart, but unfortunately I still need about 2-4 hours (looks like 7 hours were not enough
)
Well, it’ll be worth the wait ! I have work tomorrow so I cannot finish it tonight.
I’ll be announcing the GtA’s results tomorrow.
I won’t have time to post a second GtA for this week, so feel free to try yourself to the first one while you can.
