2 hours of Nanoha in HD. That was a pretty decent watch.
I’ll probably be posting a lil’ something relevant to that topic tomorrow.

Changed Beat of the week on the sidebar player.
Yet another remix, and I’m sure you know which anime it is from !

I’ve been thinking of a several little “games” for people who visit the blog.
Whether you are bored, or you wanna test your knowledge of animes, I think this’ll be interesting. I’ll have to code several things to make it work, so of course it won’t be for tomorrow. It’ll probably have a score board as well (with gravatar support if I can).

v3 of the Winter 2011 Animes chart is coming out within the next few days.
Not sure if I’ll have time to update the flash chart, but I’ll try to.

Japanese Games – Vanguard Princess

You were not expecting this, right? Well, neither do I :/
It’s been ages since the last “Japanese Flash Games” post, and I thought I’d be more interesting to post about Japanese games in general so I renamed the category (as said in today’s Picture of the day post).

Small quote from wikipedia :

Vanguard Princess is a Japanese freeware dōjin 2D fighting game for Windows, developed by a single programmer and illustrator called Tomoaki Sugeno, nicknamed Suge9 and a supposedly ex-Capcom employee. The game was released on June 26, 2009 and was created using Fighter Maker 2nd. The latest version of the game is 1.07c, released on June 20, 2010.

For a free game, it’s pretty amazing. Graphics are gorgeous, and you don’t need a rock’n lol PC to make it run. The only drawback in my opinion is that characters do not have a lot of different moves. That may change in later versions, though.
Note that You may need Microsoft AppLocale to make it run on your machine.
You also need to rename/fix the file path so that it does not contain any asian characters (ex: C:\Vanguard Princess\vanpri107c\vp). You also need to rename the .exe and .kgt files for the same reason as well. You can give them any name you want, as long as they both have the exact same name (ex: vp.exe, vp.kgt).

Found the game quite fun and relaxing, and I hope some of you will think the same ;)

Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 1st

I was supposed to post that yesterday, wasn’t I? This was a long wait for many people, but it is now out.
Yesterday, our buddies at Doki Fansubs released a LQ version of Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 1st.

A quote from the said fansub group :

This is a LQ release. It was not encoded from BDMV. The English subtitles were ripped, cleaned up a bit, and released. The songs are not subbed.

If you are patient, you can wait for a HQ release. Note that BSSubs will also be doing a release within the next few days.
Side note, but they put a pretty nice pic in their last post.
Mahou Imouto Lyrical Kirino?

Renamed the category “Japanese Flash Games” to “Japanese Games”.
You’ll see why soon.

If you were like “Okay, we had some Kirino, now where’s my Kuroneko?”, you can rejoice.
Apparently, this will be one item (among many others) at the Comiket 79.
I wish I could go there and buy stuff

18+ Japanese Artists post tomorrow.

Japanese Artists – Mochizuki Saku

Last time, it was 50/50 between this one and Onineko, so I’ll post this one today.

Mochizuki Saku (望月朔)

Mochizuki Saku puts a lot of efforts into perspectives, to make you realize the vastness of the world in which the characters appear. The “Me, alone in this vast fantasy-like world” impression is often what you’ll get when looking at the author’s artworks. If you’re into this kind of art, this is one artist you may want to follow ;)

As a general rule, I’ll never post more than 5 pictures of an artist when I feature him/her.

It’s time I start working on the next version of the winter chart.
Changed the Beat of the week on the sidebar player too (actually did it yesterday but forgot to write it down). This week’s a remix of Saya no Uta (Saya-chaaaaaaaaaaaan).
Any CS players here? I only played this game a little, but this video deserves praise for its editing, even though part of it is setup ;) Sync with music & action is pretty well made huh.
Yea, totally random facts in PotD comments.

Some fresh Angel Beats! news you might be interested in :
Official website began streaming a second PV for the special BD/DVD episode “Stairway to Heaven” (alternate epilogue). You can watch the new PV here. Out on December 22nd.
Also, Takahiro Baba (president of Visual Art’s/Key) said that scriptwriter Jun Maeda is working on a scenario for a “possible” game adaptation of Angel Beats! Although, it is just a “possibility”, and we’ll have to wait half a year for an official announcement (or not).

On another note, the AnimeNewsNetwork website began a poll a few days ago, asking “where” do you watch Imouto. And of course, the “fansub” choice is among the answers. Honestly, it is pathetic how they try to hide their motive : measure how many people actually watch the most popular show of the season using fansubs (and how much money they loose at the same time). They’ll probably give the results to Japanese companies, that wouldn’t surprise me at all.
Dudes, have some guts and ask the question directly, don’t use some cheap and obvious trick like this. We’re not dumbasses. Don’t count on me to answer your goddam poll, huh  As long as you don’t bring some top-notch subbing quality (because if we pay for it, we want our investment to be worth it), “most” (not all) people will never consider paying for watching.
Fansubbers do it with passion, unlike companies who do it for money (though I agree, subbing quality does have improved for official streaming websites). Simple.
